I initially wrote this information for colleagues visiting the Coogee area who wanted some information on what they were in for. One suggested that it may be useful to post publically so here it is. I hope it is of interest. Coogee Beach is a clean and relatively safe beach. It is an ocean beach so you can get some strong currents from time to time. The beach is patrolled by life guards 7 days a week during the swimming season. It is, however, usually best to swim between the flags.
